GAS FC – Squad
2007/8
13 outfield players
1 development player
1 keepers
|
|
Jake Weekes (13) Over
the course of this year Jake has become and outstanding keeper, game for
game, conceding less goals than any other team. Jake’s distribution is now
reliably good, his drop kicks are as good as an adults. Defending from
crosses and corners is his speciality – few can challenge his abilities in
the air. Jake is well on his way to booking his place in our academy when he
turns 16. |
Goalkeeper |
|
|
Harry Wise (5) Harry
is a classic centre half. He is our best defensive head, strong in the
challenge, a good distributor and plays with passion and commitment for every
minute of every game. Harry is a great reader of the game, a good
communicator and can pass and move as well as any midfielder. Harry is the
heart and soul of GAS FC and stands for everything that the club does. |
Centre Half Left Back |
|
|
Niall Richardson (2) In
just a few months Niall has developed into one of the best defending players
in the age group. Niall is decisive, strong, powerful and has great timing.
Niall can pass and move as well as our best midfielders and strike a ball as
well as our best forwards. In defence he is fearsome in the challenge and
accomplished in the air. |
Centre Half Right Back |
|
|
Harry Brown (10) Harry
is one of the cornerstones of our back four. He is strong, composed, calm and
is a great passer of the ball with either foot. Few forwards can find their
way around Harry, and few can stop him
from stepping up to nick the ball to turn a defensive situation into an
attacking opportunity. Harry is at home joining in with our wingers and
forwards in supporting attacking play and is a great all round footballer. |
Right/left back Centre Half |
|
|
Jed Wallace (8) Jed
is a quality player who has developed into one of the most effective
attacking midfield players that you will come across. Jed wins the ball,
doesn’t like it if someone tries to take the ball away, and is as good with
his head as he is with the ball at his feet. But best of all is Jed’s passing
– this season he is making much better decisions on going short or going long
and the results has been the devastation of opposition midfielders and
defenders. |
Centre Mid Attacking Midfielder |
|
|
Luke Giles (6) Luke
is the best pass-and-move player that you will come across. He has an
exceptional ability to make precision short passes which are well timed,
weighted and at just the right angle – always followed bu a supporting run.
Luke has developed his “off the ball” movement and is now is well versed in
recovery of possession and defensive supporting runs. |
Centre Mid Holding Mid |
|
|
Preye Koroye Crooks (7) Preye
is one of the success stories at GAS. Preye joined just 1 ˝ seasons ago with
no experience other than his school team and has developed into a game
changing player. He has good all round ability, fast, skilful, excellent at
changing pace and direction when dribbling, great stamina and fearless
determination. Preye is the only GAS player nominated for both defensive and
offensive end of season awards in 2007. |
Wing back Left Back |
|
|
Darren Bryan (20) Darren
has a great presence and is a menace against any team, wherever he plays on
the pitch – he has pace, strength, a good attacking and defensive head and
boundless energy. Darren is the model end-to-end midfielder, winning
possession in his own box one minute, then a few seconds later he will be
heading in the cross at the opposite end of the field. |
Attacking Midfielder Forward |
|
|
Joe Dipre (8) Joe
is another game changing player. Winner of the 2006/7 Pele Cup Joe is fast,
skilful and strong and can beat the best of defenders. A natural pass and
move player who has built up a vast range of dribbling and turning skills
over his time with GAS. Joe’s position of choice is wide, either in midfield
or a wide forward position from where he can run at defenders. Joe is also a
determined winner of the ball, working as hard whether he ahs the ball or
not. |
Wide Forward Attacking midfield |
|
|
Sean O’Toole (11) Sean
is one of the most natural wide forwards you will come across. He loves
running at defenders using changes of speed, direction and body swerves as
his weapons of choice. Sean is a prolific goal scorer and is always a danger
when in possession of the ball. Like every new Gas player Sean is also fast
learning the art of pass and move football. |
Winger Striker |
|
|
Josh Mc Govern (12) Josh
is very, very fast, he has great strength and a fearsome shot. Josh has come
a long way this season – since he has dedicated his training with GAS his
skills and attributes have benefitted ten fold. Josh has improved his first
touch, flicks, passing and decision making and now looks very much at home
within the GAS pass-and-move style football. Josh is one of those players
that has still only shown a small amount of his potential. Watch this space. |
Striker |
|
|
Lukey Nolan (14) Lukey
is one of the most complete forwards in the squad. He is technically
excellent, reads the game very well, can turn and shoot on a six-pence, can
head the ball well and is a precision passer. Lukey isn’t the biggest player
on the pitch, but he will overcome much bigger players with his strength and
determination. Lukey has been a game-changing player in a number of key
matches this season. |
Playmaker Advanced Midfield |
|
|
Khan Mitchell (15) In
the couple of months that Khan has been with us he has become a valuable
addition to the team. Very quick feet, precision passing, good ball control
and good movement are his hallmarks. He can fit into any midfield role,
defensive or attacking and inflict major damage to the opposition’s defence. |

Rafe Delaney Rafe
has joined GAS mid-season from AFC Wimbledon. Rafe is a skilled player with
lots of potential and is determined to break his way into the team to become
a key player for next season. |
